Yang Yang, Champions in Women’s 500m & 1,000m Short-Track Speed Skating
Yang won the first gold medal of the Olympic Winter Games for China at the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Winter Games. Yang withdrew from the Women’s 500m event at the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games, and later was elminated in the 1,500m event at the early stage.
Shen Xue/ Zhao Hongbo, Champions in Figure Skating Pair Mixed
They were born in Harbin, and became partner in figure skating pair mixed event in August 1992. They won a bronze medal at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, achieving the best result for China in the event at the time. The pair then won the World Figure Skating Championships the same year.
Wang Meng, Champions in Women’s 500m & 1,000m Short-Track Speed Skating
Born in Heilongjiang Province in 1985, Wang broke the Olympic records in the 500m preliminary and semi-final, and got the champion at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. She competed in cooperation with her opponent in the 3,000m relay and won the gold medal.
Sun Linlin/ Wang Meng/ Zhang Hui/ Zhou Yang, Champions in Women’s 3,000m Relay in Short-Track Speed Skating
Sun and Zhang were both born in Heilongjiang Province in 1988. They began skating at the age of 10 and graduated from Harbin Institute of Physical Education。
Zhou Yang , Champion in 1,500m Women’s Short-Track Speed Skating
Born in Changchun, in 1991, Zhou broke the Olympic record in 1,500m Women’s Short-Track Speed Skating at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. She became the first Chinese to win a gold medal in the event and the youngest Chinese gold medallist at the Olympic Winter Games
Zhang Hong, Champion in Women’s 1,000m Speed Skating
Born in Heilongjiang Province in 1988, Zhang initially practiced short-track speed skating, but later changed to speed skating. She won a silver medal at the 2014 World Sprint Speed Skating Championships. In the 500m final at Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games the same year.
Li Jianrou, Champion in Women’s 500m Short-Track Speed Skating
Boring in Jilin, Jilin Province, in August 1986, Li replaced the then injured Wang Meng in 500m Short-Track Speed Skating on the eve of the Sochi 2014. Although she had an unfavourable start, she went on to win the gold after the other three skaters ahead fell off the track.
Ye Qiaobo , First Chinese and Asian All-round World Champion in Sprint Speed Skating
Born in 1964, Ye won the silver medals in 500m and 1,000m speed skating at the 16th Olympic Winter Games, breaking the zero-medal record of China at the Olympic Winter Games. She went on to win Women’s 1,000m at the World Sprint Speed Skating Championships the same year.

Ole Bjørndalen, Thirteen-time Olympic Medallist
Born in 1974, Bjørndalen is a Norwegian skier nicknamed “The King of Biathlon”. He once won three gold medals at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Men’s 10km, 15km and 12.5km Pursuit. The 2014 Olympic Winter Gamess were the sixth Bjørndalen has taken part in consecutively.

Born in 1983, Williams is an American athlete and one of the fastest women sprinters in the world. She won Women’s 100m with a record of 10.93 second at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics in Helsinki.
Evgeni Plushenko, Russian Prince of Figure Skating
Born in 1982, Plushenko is a Russian figure skater. He is a gold medallist at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games, a silver medallist at the 2002 and 2010 Olympic Winter Games, three-time champion at the World Figure Skating Championships Men’s Singles.
Kim Yuna, First All-round Winner in Figure Skating
Born in 1990, Kim is a famed figure skater from the Republic of Korea. She broke the highest score record in history at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games to win the first gold medal in figure skating for the Republic of Korea.
Mao Asada, Winner of ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating
Born in September 1990, Asada is a famed Japanese figure skater. She is the first individual women skater in Asian to have won three gold medals at the World Figure Skating Championships and the titles of “world champion” three times.
Shaun White, Two-time Olympic Snowboarding Gold Medallist
Born in 1986, White is a snowboarder, and has won gold in men’s half-pipe at the 2006 and 2010 Olympic Winter Games. He is nicknamed “the Flying Tomato”, and is one of the best snowboarders and the most talented skateboarders.

Born in 1972, Pechstein is a German woman speed skater and the Winter Olympic athlete with the greatest achievement in Germany. She has accumulated 5 Olympic gold medals, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.
Viktor Ahn, Winner of Six Olympic Gold Medals
Born in 1985, Ahn is a Russian short-track speed skater of Republic of Korea descent. He represented the Republic of Korea at the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games and won gold medals in the 1,500m and 1,000m and 5,000m Relay of Men’s Individual Short-Track Speed Skating as well as a bronze medal in Men’s 500m.
