Beijing 2022 Signs MoU with Tokyo 2020 for Greater Collaboration in Games Preparations

Beijing 2022 and Tokyo 2020 signed a Memorandum of Understanding on exchange and collaboration in Games preparations on October 26, 2018.

The document was signed by Vice Mayor of Beijing and Beijing 2022 Executive Vice President Zhang Jiandong and Tokyo 2020 CEO Toshiro Muto at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

The two organizing committees will carry out exchange and collaboration in areas like personnel, knowledge transfer, experience sharing, communications, youth sports, sustainability, legacy, Olympic and Paralympic education, and new technology.

The enhanced cooperation between the two sides is expected to contribute to the successful delivery of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 and the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, as well as the growth of Olympic and Paralympic movements in East Asia.

“This is a milestone event in the cooperation between our two organizing committees. We thank the International Olympic Committee for their strong support for the successful signature of this MoU,” Zhang said.

“Both the Beijing 2022 Games and the Tokyo 2020 Games provide unique opportunities for promoting cultural exchanges and friendship between the peoples of China and Japan,” he said.
