BEIJING, December 8, 2016 (Beijing 2022) – The Beijing Organising Committee on the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games held an executive meeting on Thursday.
The meeting, chaired by Guo Jinlong, president of Beijing 2022, focused on sustainability of the 2022 Games.
Beijing 2022 and all partners “will take sustainability as the core concept and basic principle, and strive to achieve sustainable environmental, economic and social development… during the preparatory, Games-time and post-Games phases,” said a press release after the meeting.
“We will, in cooperation with our partners and stakeholders, carry out our work in a well planned and coordinated manner, push forward regional sustainability, promote ecological environment, accelerate green economy and social progress, and create tangible and intangible Olympic legacies,” the meeting agreed.
The meeting reviewed the Organising Committee’s work since its inauguration on December 15, 2015.
“The jobs finished so far have laid a solid foundation for future preparations in the next five years,” the meeting said.
The meeting vowed that the Organising Committee should continue to carry out future preparations strictly according to Chinese Presideng Xi Jinping’s instructions and the IOC requirements.
The meeting also discussed the draft vision for the 2022 winter Olympics, venue planning, Olympic and Paralympic emblems, maketing and communications.
